“Fostering the protection and enhancement of our local and regional natural resources” The Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) was jointly formed by the Borough of Emmaus and Upper Milford Township in January 2005. Comprised of eight members – four individuals appointed from each community – the EAC’s mission is to advise elected officials, local planning commissions, parks and recreation boards, as well as the public, in matters regarding the conservation, management, and protection of natural resources within the two communities. The council works to identify environmental problems, issues and trends affecting both municipalities and fostering cooperation between the regulatory boards and the public in making environmentally sound decisions. With input from the community leaders, conservation organizations and the general public, the EAC creates plans and programs that will help educate and inform the community about such issues as watershed protection, recycling and waste management, storm water management, land use, open space preservation, and protection of the Leibert Creek Watershed.
