Construction for the Route 29 (Chestnut St.) Bridge Replacement project over the Norfolk Southern Railroad will begin on September 30, 2019.  Please note that advanced road work signs that have been installed may indicate work beginning on September 23, 2019.  The first stage of traffic that will be implemented as part of the MPT plan will keep both directions of traffic open until the next stage is implemented approximately March 2021.  However, as part of the 1st stage concrete barrier will be installed adjacent to the southbound lane, closing the shoulder on either side of the bridge.  In addition, access to/from Route 29 to James St. and John St. will be prohibited.  A separate notification will be provided prior to the next stage being implemented in 2021 which will detour only southbound traffic for approximately 4 months.  The contractor performing the work is HRI
